Latour poster
by Bret Victor
"Advantages of inscriptions for convincing and converting allies". A comic-style redesign of an excerpt from Bruno Latour's article "Visualisation and Cognition: Drawing Things Together".
In contrast to the original prose passage, here the reader can see the "shape of the whole", the structure of the argument (the nine advantages, and their sub-clauses) represented spatially. The poster can be skimmed or browsed at various levels of detail. Details can be recognized and referred to from across the room.
(Of course, none of these advantages are visible when seeing the poster on a computer screen, such as on this website.)
