It's important for the data set cards to mark the axes (left side and bottom side) of the graph. These determine what is plotted (e.g. GDP vs life expectancy). So the data set cards need to be in specific places with respect to the larger plots. The timeline applies to the whole table and can be anywhere.

Here's a sketch showing a potential last panel arrangement (change orientations as necessary). Also I drew a "mountain plot" for the second one as the Gapminder folks often use these but I don't know if this looks good. (We can futz with the plot, I just want to make sure you get the blocking of the cards on the table right.)

Important part is data set cards determining what gets plotted versus what.
