Matthias and I would like to organize a workshop as a playtest for the dynamic drafting paper project. The idea is to invite 12-16 participants on a Sunday afternoon to the lab to make designs using the system, laser cut, assemble, repeat, hang out, etc. It should feel like a "craft day", knitting circle, etc. Pretty informal, perhaps even "workshop" is too formal a name for it.
We're targeting Jan 3 as the date for this. The event would run 11a-6p. We would order lunch delivered.
I would like to invite crafty people who don't necessarily have inclinations one way or another towards computers. Matthias and I will think more over the next week of what an invitation email for such an event will look like, and then we can send it out to friends.
We will need to purchase more materials for laser cutting. I had been thinking of doing a theme around the rainbow acrylic that changes color based on your angle. There are some circle/diamond hanging things in the lab made from it.
Not sure how much we'll emphasize the theme, or have no material theme at all. There's a certain focus that comes from having a material theme (e.g. the mirror workshop), but it's also nice to be more open ended.
Let us know if you have any ideas for this and keep it in mind date-wise / people you know who might be interested in participating.
