I wanted to reify our movie nights in our physical space, so I made this wall thing:

The movie posters are all printed paper with a bit of velcro on the back and stuck to a big piece of felt (thanks to Rob for letting me use the felt).

More context:

Hopefully these icons will be laserable (and touchable?) soon and will start playing the selected film on the screen. Then I could imagine laser controls for the video — play/pause, volume, seek, etc. But I'm most excited about a modal "video-gridify the current film on the big screen" laser button that would allow you to see the entire video at once. This would be especially useful after screenings when we want to discuss certain parts of the movie but forget what they were or where they happened. And if everyone has lasers, they can all control playback!

Some things that aren't on the poster currently but might be cool: who chose the movie, who was at the screening, what else was going on around the lab at that time, emailing the film to yourself to view it or its wikipedia page later, showing the email thread invitation, a digital-only representation that you can browse while not at the lab, and so on...
