But the transition already is modal, which I think is a good thing (the outside goes grey, you are now scrolling the inside). And this coexists just fine with the continuous aspects. I agree the continuos look ahead is nice, and yeah, one can imagine future pressure sensitive displays or maybe even present pinch to zoom (which would make more sense to me), and that would be great, but I’m thinking about how to refine the idea for present technology and expectations. And even if future people on future devices know about expandable quotes, how will they know a particular quote is expandable? You don’t want people pushing down on all the green pipes to see if they go somewhere since this isn’t a game. So that still leaves the problem of How do I know this is openable?, That this pipe goes somewhere? There needs to be some kind of indicator. Quotes let you know something is, well, quoted, and a similar convention is needed here. The super quotes, or whatever. And it can do dual use as a button, to ease people into this system.
