My friend (who was at the Century of the Self screening on Monday) started a company that may make the e-mail interface simpler—I’d be excited to test their software, which we can either run ourselves or pay them to administer for us.

Yes!  I was looking for something like this.

Bret—did you have an idea of how this UI would (or would not) deal with threads?

I imagined that the label-maker UI wouldn't have threads -- you just scroll up through all recent messages, since the one you want is probably near the bottom.

The kiosk UI (coming tomorrow?) should display the selected message within its thread, and allow you to scroll through the thread:

First take on the label-maker app:

You can go through the recently-sent messages (in theory), click on a message to select it, and click on the image and link that you want to use for the label.  Over on the label, you can pan and scale the image (a little weird, but interesting), and edit the label text.

(in the typical case, ideally, you shouldn't have to have to edit anything -- just go to the site and hit the "Add to Gallery" button.)
