Immediately following the 2-year anniversary party (2016), we spent a few days in a house near Santa Cruz to discuss where we were headed, and what Lab v2 (2015) might be.
This event could be seen (in retrospect) as the kick-off of what would become Realtalk (2017). It represented a significant shift in how the lab worked, from independent researchers pursuing individual projects, to a team building a shared platform.
This gradually precipitated a bittersweet shift in the group, as researchers who didn't want to work in this mode drifted away, and subsequent people joined specifically to work on the platform.
